Final events of CycleCities project will take place next week in Piraeus, in Greece.

November 11-13, Piraeus, Greece, EVEP Hall – Piraeus Chamber of Commerce & Industry

The 3-days event will include:

The 7th Interregional Forum, on 11/11/2014, focused on: “Planning for Port-Cities: Sustainable Mobility Policies & Solutions”. The forum will focus on how cycling is key for the successful development and regeneration of port-cities. The experts from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and project partners’ cities of Piraeus, Genoa, London, Lisbon and Gdansk will present and discuss the propositions for promoting cycling in relation to tourism and cruise shipping development.

The 3rd and Final International Conference, on 12/11/2014 focused on: Cycling Planning in Europe and CycleCities contribution. The final Conference is co-organised by the Municipality of Piraeus and the Hellenic Institute of Transportation Engineers will be presented and under 3 categories:
1. Partners plans for Cycling and sustainable planning. The conference will show how the knowledge and experiences gained from the project will be utilized in the interventions, measures and policies so they can aim to become an optimum Cycle City. The plans will include how developing and progressing cycling networks are fundamental to ensuring people friendly cities.
2. A presentation of 4 Good practice guides related to the European cycling infrastructure and policies development within: Land Use Planning; Mobility Management strategies & approaches ; Participation strategies of administrations for reshaping urban mobility; and Architectural Design.
3. Public and Private investments on cycling and examples of how they can help deliver environmental & economic benefits essential to a sustainable future.

The 8th interregional workshop, on 13/11/2014, focused on: “Cost-benefit analysis on Public and Private Investments on Cycling”, will be an excellent occasion to analyze the cycling Investments developed by the project’s partners. The workshop will be followed by the CycleCities Steering Committee meeting (only for the project’s partners).
